Shona sculptures impress, stimulate, and inspire. The Shona sculptor, G. Beaton, carves the abstract owl sculpture from a solid piece or raw green or brown serpentinite. Using two distinct styles. In the first (Style A), he skillfully captures the wise owl by polishing the claws, wings, beak, eyes, and ears leaving the rest of the piece al natural with chisel grooves to to represent feathers. In the second (Style B), he ploishes the whole piece with etched lines to form the wing and small triangular cuts to show the feathers. As home or office décor either style sculpture makes an excellent bookshelf ornament or stand alone sculpture. Suitable unique and unusual gift for all ages especially owl collectors. Admired by Picasso and many other artists and sculptors, many critics view Shona sculptors to be the world’s current era of greatest rock artists and sculptors. Being hand carved from raw stone, no two sculptures, however similar, even by the same artist/sculptor, are identical. All owl sculptures are signed by the artist.
The 10" (250mm) tall example of the Shona talent sells for more than $150 in USA, EU, and Asian art galleries. We are able to offer them at moderate prices by contracting directly with the sculptor at fair trade prices. A professional geologist has notarized the certificate of authenticity, origin, and appraised value for each sculpture that is available for a small additional fee and highly recommended for insurance purposes.
