Shona sculptures impress, stimulate, and inspire. The bookends are carved by various sculptors in co-op groups from solid pieces or raw soapstone (steatite) known locally as Rapoko, Masvingo, Zimbabwe. They range in length from 7-12" (175-300mm) and 6" - 8" (150-200mm) tall andwill be appreciated and admired by all who see them. Admired by Picasso and many other artists and sculptors, many critics view Shona sculptors to be the world’s current era of greatest rock artists and sculptors. Being hand carved from raw stone, no two bookend sculptures, however similar, by the same sculptor are identical
These magnificent examples of the Shona talent often sell for more than $200 in USA, EU, and Asian art galleries and home decor stores. We are able to offer them at moderate prices by contracting directly with the sculptors at fair trade prices. A notarized certificate of authenticity, origin, and appraised value is available for a small additional charge and recommended for insurance purposes. These bookend sculptures are very popular and in great demand by collectors. They are often sold out; the number available will read backordered instead of a quantity when that happens.
