The chic, highly fashionable, unisex, two-knot (2) genuine elephant hair bracelet is universally worn by men and women. The bracelet adjusts using ancient knot technology brought to Africa from Asia by Arab traders to fit most regular wrist sizes.
According to African legend, these bracelets offer protection and great fortune to the wearer. The knots represent thepowerful earth forces water, sun, fire and wind. The strands symbolize the seasons. Moving the knots along the strands is thought to create balance between earth and nature, and to bring harmony and well-being to those who wear it.
The 2-knot are the most difficult to obtain due to the long lengths of hair strands required to make them. Click here for the full description of the regular size that fits most wrist sizes. Petite is for small wrists (fist circumference less than 7" [175 mm]). Large is for the XL wrists (fist circumference greater than 10" [250 mm] but less than 12.5" [315mm]). See photographic illustration in picture A. Picture B shows the different thickness between zebra (A), giraffe (B), and elephant (C) hair.
These difficult to obtain bracelets often sell for more than $60 in USA speciality stores. We are able to offer them at moderate prices by contracting directly with the artisan at fair trade prices. Imported from Zimbabwe where 500 elephants are legally culled each year. Raw material also harvested from shed hair in the wild. NO ANIMAL WAS INTENTIONALLY HARMED TO OBTAIN RAW MATERIAL FOR THE BRACELETS. They are a valuable by-product and industry of culled and commercially hunted elephants. US WILDLIFE and FISHERIES Import Permit available to buyer on request.
