Exquisite, finely hand-carved about 5” (125mm) long fine art walking warthog boar was sculptured from verdite by Shona stone sculptors in Zimbabwe. The sculptor paid incredible attention to detail from the snout (nostrils), mouth, eyes, ears, skin folds, hooves, mane, and tail that will not disappoint. The tusk inserts are loose carved cattle bone and may be glued in-place after receipt or left as is (removable) for the occasional polishing and buffing. All the sculptures are exceptionally well-finished and finely detailed in proportion and to scale. Prices vary according to the reputation of the sculptor and the quality (grade) of the stone that varies from collector's grade pure mottled green (very rare today) through green streaked with honey to pure honey-colored. Most sculptures are not collector's grade green today as the deposit is almost completely worked out and thoroughly picked over.
These magnificent examples of Shona talent often sell for more than $250 in USA, EU, and Asian art galleries. We are able to offer them at moderate prices by contracting directly with the artist at fair trade prices. A professional geologist has notarized the certificate of authenticity, origin, and appraised value for each individual sculpture that is available for a small additional charge and highly recommended for insurance purposes. Type 'yes' in box next to Cert. origin/value $20.00 if you want the certificate.
Admired by Picasso and many other artists and sculptors, many critics view Shona sculptors to be the world’s current era of greatest rock artists and sculptors. Being finely crafted by hand from natural materials, no two sculptures, however similar, are identical.
