Skilled Ndebele tribes people located in the Matopos area, western Zimbabwe produce the rectangular basket with matching lid mainly from solid pieces of indigenous trees. The indigenous woods all have magnificent hue and beautiful wood grain. Occasionaly, a basket is made from sustainable (and renewable) exotic deciduous wood like jacaranda or saligna gum when such resources are available. The design is a relief carving of Africa's 'Big ‘Five' (elephant, leopard, rhinoceros, lion, and Cape buffalo) against a background of bushveld trees.
Makes an excellent home décor decoration or dining accent. An electic and unique gift for almost anyone. Some common usages are as a stand alone table or bookshelf decoration, container for bread products when entertaining; and filled with potpourri where subtle scents are required at home or the office. One of our most popular products; we regularly have no stock!
Being hand carved some imperfections and some artisan repaired natural wood cracks, mistakes, and chips that add to the beauty and uniqueness of the basket. Good wood oil or polish (at least twice a year in forced air environments) will preserve the product for life-long usage and renew its luster.

These products are centered in Bulawayo and surrounding Ndebele tribal area in the west of the landlocked country. More information about this product is given in the detailed description of the basket in the generic photograph.

Rather order another one that is in stock or from "Any" and a similar product i.e. color, size, design or pattern will be backordered that can take between 10 and 16 weeks to be delivered. If backorder not wanted, remove the item/s from the shopping cart or at checkout.
